Oakley Henry UK bound

Oakley Henry from Wilara Holsteins in Gippsland Victoria is preparing to head to the UK for the Holstein Australia Youth UK Exchange following the withdrawal of WA’s Tahlia McSwain from the 2019 program.

Eighteen year old Oakley is a 4th generation dairy farmer. He is completing a Certificate III in Agriculture (Dairy Production) and has worked full time on the family farm since November 2017.

New Herd Genetic Stocktake report launched
Following a successful trial earlier this year Holstein Australia has launched its Herd Genetic Stocktake report designed to assist breeders accelerate genetic improvement in their herds.

Bellbrook Holsteins to the fore in July proof run
Bellbrook Holsteins had 5 of the top 20 new heifers in the July run. Bulls Chairman and Jeronimo also sired multiple daughters, as they have done in the last couple of proof runs.

European Young Breeders School Team debut at Winter Fair
Australia's first European Young Breeders School Team, supported by Holstein Australia and other industry bodies, made its public debut at the Victorian Winter Fair, featuring on regional television news. The five strong team depart for Battice, Belgium, at the end of this month.

Are you on the list? The awards, announced this week, recognise farmers who produce the nation's best milk based on bulk milk cell count (BMCC).
