Victorian Winter Fair Time

With over 185 Holsteins entered for the Victorian Winter Fair and a new Youth Excellence Award up for grabs, Bendigo is the place to be from 2 - 4 July. The Junior Show takes place mid-day on Tuesday 2 July, with the Dry Heifer classes 3 July and In-Milk classes 4 July.

Calister Holsteins (Craig & Sharon Lister) and Dilee Holsteins (Les & Russ White) dominate the New Genomic Females list with six and five heifers respectively in the top twenty. Rengaw Holsteins tops the All-Females list, Vala Holsteins the Young Females.

MSA grading could revolutionise dairy beef
Holstein burgers? Jersey steaks? A Meat Standards Australia index for both dairy breeds is on the cards, which would allow dairy steers to measure up against traditional beef breeds.

50 years young - Atherton & North Queensland Sub-Branch
An excellent cake and Breeder representatives from studs going back to the 1950s were part of the Atherton & North Queensland Sub-Branch 50th Anniversary luncheon in Malanda last month, with only the need for afternoon milking halting the celebrations.

Recognising excellence in conformation and showing, the Semex-Holstein Australia All-Australian Photographic Competition is one of the most prestigious awards for Australian Holsteins. Apply via the website by 30 June. The Awards Dinner will be held in Inverloch, Vic, on Wednesday 18 September.
